About Charsla

My name is Charsla Garrett. I am the founder and owner of Charsla's Fancy Cakes. I am from Dallas, TX. I teach in the Dallas Independent School District. I attended Jarvis Christian College where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and received my BS degree. I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I started baking for my Dad on Father’s Day and birthdays. However, I was just doing it to make him happy because he loved my lemon cakes. Then I went through a bad break up and I needed something to run to. So I had to find something to take my mind off of the heart break and pain. I found myself watching “Cake Boss” and “Cupcake Wars” TV shows more and more. Then a light bulb hit me and told me to make cakes to pass time. I understand now that it was God telling me to get in the kitchen. Sometimes God will put you in the most uncomfortable positions to place you on the path you need to be on. Therefore, when I was in the kitchen my mind was free and I felt happy.

So a broken heart is what started it all. I always try to make lemonade out of lemons and this was one of those times. So when I say that I am baking from the heart I really do mean it. Needless, to say that the joy that baking gives me is priceless. I want everyone that reads this to be inspired to take risks and find something you love doing. I take each and every order serious and make sure you get your money's worth.  I have never taken a cooking class in my life. However, my style and creativity really shines through. Everything I have learned is from testing it out, trial and error style. I have always been a self-taught type of person. YouTube, Yahoo, Google and my own research has been a key factor in my success. Also, I thank God for given me the skills and confidence to just try a new path. My drive, great work ethic, and determination will not let me stop.  My desserts are made out of love and straight from my heart. I hope you enjoy and tell a friend about my treats.
